CREATION HIGH has designed and taught co-curricular programs for some of the top schools in the GTA, including Bishop Strachan Academy, Montcrest School, Willow Academy and The York School. All of our programs are based on the cutting-edge techniques of our founder, Karen Zila Hayes, whose work in Applied Sensory Learning has been cited internationally in such publications as The New York Times, The Toronto Globe and Mail and Jornal Pampulha (Brazil).
Hayes’ work explores the links between different types of sensory stimulation which have been proven to improve physical, cognitive and emotional well-being as well as enhancing our ability to learn. Her colouring book, The Shaded Tree, is currently being used in classrooms in Ontario and Quebec.
Our programs take sensory activities such as knitting, colouring, singing and music exploration to the next level by combining them with a foundation of colour, touch, sound & rhythm therapies. These programs not only engage and inspire, they sharpen and refine learning skills, and aid in relaxation and stress-management.
We tailor our school programs from kindergarten through grade 12, as all ages can benefit from applied sensory learning. Click on the links below for more information on individual programs.
” I love knitting club. The teacher is really nice and I’ve already learned how to make a scarf, a purse and a hat.”
” I thought knitting would be a lot harder but it’s really easy and fun. I love all the different colours and how soft the yarn is.”
I love Creative Colouring class. I’m learning about different colours and how they make me feel, and I love making my own colouring pages!
” This is my third time in knitting and I want to keep doing it. There are always new fun projects and new yarn. I’m even teaching my mom.”
